B2B Inventory Management Solution

User research, information architecture, responsive UI and web design, and a custom WordPress build for a B2B platform that helps brands turn excess inventory into revenue.

B2B Inventory Management Solution

The product is an enterprise platform for excess inventory, used by brands across fashion, FMCG and home goods to recover value from stock that would otherwise be discounted heavily or written off. We were responsible for the whole public experience of the platform and its marketing site: user research, information architecture, responsive UI and web design, a style guide, and the custom WordPress development that shipped it. This was the design that ran before the platform’s current version.

We started with user research and turned it into an information architecture that took a dense offering, solutions by category, product features, success stories and resources, and organised it into paths a visitor could actually follow. From there we designed the responsive interface for desktop and mobile and set it into a style guide, so the system stayed consistent as the site grew across many page types.

Every screen was delivered as an interactive prototype, first in InVision and later in Figma, with the micro-interactions designed in, so the client could click through the real flows and feel the motion before a line of code was written. We build most of our UI work this way, as a working prototype rather than static mockups. We then developed the site as a custom WordPress build, turning the responsive design into a maintainable theme the client’s own team could run.

Requirements

Design and build the public platform and marketing site for a B2B inventory management product: research the audience, structure a dense offering into clear paths, design a responsive interface with a consistent style guide, prototype the real flows and their micro-interactions, and deliver it as a custom, maintainable WordPress site.

Strategies & techniques

User research · Information architecture · Responsive UI design · Web design · Style guide and design system · Interactive prototyping (InVision, later Figma) · Micro-interaction design · Custom WordPress development · Front-end development

Tools

Ideation: user research and information architecture to organise the platform's solutions, product, success stories and resources into paths a visitor could follow. Design and prototyping: responsive UI and web design for desktop and mobile, a style guide to keep the system consistent, and an interactive prototype with the micro-interactions built in, first in InVision and later in Figma, so the client could click through the real flows before development. Delivery and development: a custom WordPress build that turned the responsive design into a maintainable theme.

Final results

We delivered the research, the information architecture, a responsive UI and web design with a style guide, an interactive prototype carrying the micro-interactions, and the finished site as a custom WordPress development. This was the platform’s design before its current version, and it is one of several custom WordPress builds in our work, with more to follow. Building the UI as a clickable prototype with real micro-interactions, rather than static mockups, is how we run most of our design work, and it let the client experience the product before it was built.
