Burger King is entering the AI marketing arena with considerable enthusiasm. This time, the US fast-food company has transitioned from its retro rebranding to uber-technological heights with a campaign for users of the Burger King app.

The contest involves creating a perfect Whopper using their AI-based app, combining up to eight ingredients. The only restrictions are that the ingredients must be edible and cannot include unusual ingredients or seafood. Beyond that, it’s open to the user’s imagination.

After users create the perfect Whopper, their creations will be voted on by other users to determine the winner.

What’s up for grabs for the winner? Nothing less than 1 million dollars, and the chance to have their perfect Whopper included in Burger King’s menu as well. Pretty cool, huh?

However, don’t get too excited just yet: this contest is available only in the US and Canada, so if you’re outside these countries, you won’t be able to access the page unless you use a proxy.

As we all know, Burger King is quite dynamic in its branding and rebranding efforts, unlike other companies in the same industry that prefer to be more static, perhaps due to their market dominance. The last Burger King rebranding was a significant one, and in our opinion, a fantastic move.

With this in mind, introducing a campaign that relies on the latest technologies and artificial intelligence, on top of a retro vibe, seems a bit strange. But that’s the beauty of this contest; mixing high tech with retro vibes sounds like a unique approach that I personally would love to see more.
